Establishing a remote connection..! (Again)

Hi,

I am trying to connect via the Management Studio Express. I share a LAN with the server. In Netowrk connections I can see the server and I can even access the "Shared" folders. However,when I try to connect I get an error that says the error may be caused by the server not allowing remote connections. I have already done the following:

With the Surface Area Configuration facility I have set the server to allow remote connections I have selected TCP/IP as the preferred mode of connection. I have selected Windows authentification as mode of authorisation

What else can I do?

Please help.

escape character if the field name has ? in it

HI All,
I'm using SQL server 2000 and SQL Server JDBC driver to connect to it.
I have a field name which has a ? in it. For eg field?
In the query analyzer when i execute the following query
select field? from qtable. It executes successfully. In the Java code
I tried the same like ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("Select field? from
qtable");
The following exceptions was thrown [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driv
er for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid column name 'field@.P1'.
Any inputs on escape sequence will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Prabhu.This is some substitution done by the JDBC driver. I suggest you post this
to a JDBC group. Or, better, don't use "strange" characters in identifiers.

Errors when trying to run SQL

Ok, whenever I try to connect, I get the following Error messages:

"SQL Server Registration failed because of the connection failure displayed below.
SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
ConnectionOpen (Connect())"

"An Error 1069 occured while performing this service operation on the

I even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea what's causing this? It was working fine and then all the sudden one day I start getting these messages and it won't work.

Thanks!

Errors processing data from Oracle to SQL

hi here′s a new one.....
i′ve created a dts that is using an odbc source to connect to an oracle server, the conexion works just fine and i have no problems with it, then, i run this package from mi computer and the data transfer ends succesfully, when i upload it to my server in SQL 2005 and set it into a job.. i get errors like these:

Event Name: OnError
Message: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047039.

Event Name: OnError
Message: Thread "WorkThread0" received a shutdown signal and is terminating. The user requested a shutdown, or an error in another thread is causing the pipeline to shutdown.

Event Name: OnError
Message: The PrimeOutput method on component "table" (1) returned error code 0xC02090F5. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.

Event Name: OnError
Message: The component "faccomitecedidos" (1) was unable to process the data.

Event Name: OnError

why is this happening , any solutions or ideas? the data i want to extract comes from an sql command not a table
this is the query:

SELECT
FCNSS ,
FITIPOSOLICITUD ,
FIFOLIO ,
RTRIM(FCNOMBRE)||' '||RTRIM(FCAPPATERNO)||' '||RTRIM(FCAPMATERNO) AS NOMBREAFILIADO,
fdfinicta as FAFIL ,
fdFecCedido as FCED ,
(fdFecCedido-fdfinicta) AS diasperm ,
FNSALARIOACTUAL AS SALAFIL ,
(SELECT DISTINCT FISDI FROM gentec_own.AFILCEDIDOS WHERE
FIFOLIO = gentec_own.faccomite.FIFOLIO AND FITIPOSOLICITUD = gentec_own.faccomite.FITIPOSOLICITUD AND FCNSS = gentec_own.faccomite.FCNSS AND ROWNUM = 1) AS salCED ,
(SELECT DISTINCT (FISDI/48.60) FROM gentec_own.AFILCEDIDOS WHERE
FIFOLIO = gentec_own.faccomite.FIFOLIO AND FITIPOSOLICITUD = gentec_own.faccomite.FITIPOSOLICITUD AND FCNSS = gentec_own.faccomite.FCNSS AND ROWNUM = 1) AS CalSalCED ,

and (to_char(fdFecCedido,'yyyymmdd')>=to_char(sysdate-8,'yyyymmdd') and to_char(fdFecCedido,'yyyymmdd')< to_char(sysdate,'yyyymmdd'))
order by fdFecCedido;

please!!!1 somebody

maybe the problem is here:

(fdFecCedido-fdfinicta) AS diasperm

|||

hi unfortunately this wasn′t the error, i tried changing the query for a view in the oracle server but the error is stil the same

Event Name: OnError

Message: The "component "DataReader Source" (1)" failed because error code 0x80131541 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "DIASPERM" (404)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.

and the query is just :

select * from db.view

and that′s it.... any posible solutions? is there any complications if the server where i′m running the job is under 64 bits and the dts ′s been created under 32 bits? if so. where can i find a 32 bits odbc driver for oracle that i may install in the target server!!!! please!!!!!!!!!!

|||

It looks like a SQL syntax problem. If you try to issue your entire original statement DIRECTLY against your oracle database, do you not get an error?

It seems to me that you need to tie back your results to the main query as you did here:

(SELECT DISTINCT FISDI FROM gentec_own.AFILCEDIDOS WHERE
FIFOLIO = gentec_own.faccomite.FIFOLIO AND FITIPOSOLICITUD = gentec_own.faccomite.FITIPOSOLICITUD AND FCNSS = gentec_own.faccomite.FCNSS AND ROWNUM = 1) AS salCED ,

|||

i don′t think this is a problem of syntax cause i run the query directly on the oracle db and it works, it seems more like a problem of windows version, since i run this dts on my 32 bits pc i get the results without problems.. the problem comes when uploading the package to the target server that is running under 64 bits, to do this i'm using an 32bits odbc oracle driver but the odbc that is used in the target server seems to be under 64 bits , because of this, i'd like to try using the same kind of odbc so, where can i get
one?

a 32 bits odbc driver for oracle that works in a server running in 64 bits mode

error:25 - connection string is not valid

I have installed SQL Server 2005 Developer edition. When I open SQL Server Management Studio, and try to connect to the database engine, I enter these credentials:

Server name: LT2000\MSSQLSERVER
Login: sa
Password: my password

When I try to connect I receive the following error:
An error has occured while trying to establish a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.(provider: sql network interfaces, error:25 - connection string is not valid)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:87)

What can I do?

Is that an error message you are seeing via a ASP.NET page trying to connect?|||

Peter Smith:

I have installed SQL Server 2005 Developer edition. When I open SQL Server Management Studio, and try to connect to the database engine, I enter these credentials:

I don't understand what you mean by connecting to the database engine because I have not had the need for that in 8years plus using SQL Server, but your error means you are trying to connect with only named pipes you need to use both named pipes and TCP/IP. Then enable remote connection that is covered by Microsoft below. Hope this helps.

http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlexpress/archive/2005/05/05/415084.aspx

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914277

|||

The surface area configuration tool used to configure SQL Serve 2005 check the doc below remote connection.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178763.aspx

|||

Actually the error has nothing to do with pipes. If you look in the error message you find the message "error:25 - connection string is not valid", that is the error. If you are sure those are that is your valid credential you should use a connection string just like this one: "Data Source=LT2000\MSSQLSERVER;Initial Catalog=Northwind;User ID=sa;Password=mypassword"; Initial catalog is of course the name of your database. If that doesn't work, then use a data source wizard and enter your credentials, then test the connection and see if it works. If it doesn't you probably have wrong credentials. You can try also using the Windows Authentication('cause you set your sql server to user mixed authentication mode), in that way your connection string will be: "Data Source=LT2000\MSSQLSERVER;Initial Catalog=Northwind;Integrated Security=true".

Tell us if that works for you.

|||

Hi,

When I use MS SQL Management Studio and I want to connect, I get to see a dropdown...in this dropdown I can select "database engine".
I then fill in the type of authentication (sql server in this case), and I can log on.

I dont have the problem anymore, but that might be that out of frustration I just reinstalled SQL Server...it works fine now :)

error: use trust connect failure -urgent

i use visual studio.net 2003 version and when a progamme run , it told me

do not have trust connect .what is wrong ?how can I do to solute it?

We usually define trusted connection in web.congif like

<appSettings>

<addkey="connectionstring"value="server=localhost;Trusted_Connection=true;database=databaseNamw"/>

</appSettings>

In database users --> Add ServerName\ASPNET account.

That will create trusted connection for the application.

|||

i did as you told me.but it occurs new error as follows:

" database" server of application error.

abnormity particular information: system.data.sqlclient.sqlexception"BUSA_QFDKDIEDKDJ" landing fail.

BUSA_QFDKDIEDKDJ is my server name.

|||

Hi,

I have made little web application to show you how to add user in DB with trusted connection. The DB backup is in the TestDB folder called DB backup. Make Virtual directory and browse it to TestDB folder and Restore backup in MyDB (Create it). Here is link

http://www.riseofkingdoms.com/TestDB.rar

Hope it will work. Change the server name in the string like

<appSettings>

<addkey="connectionstring"value="server=BUSA_QFDKDIEDKDJ;Trusted_Connection=true;database=MyDB"/>

</appSettings>

|||

Hi:

I change the server name ,but it doesn't work. and i am a new proqrammer,and dosen't know much, can you say easily.

|||

i use Query Decomposition to land with trusted connection,and it success.but why

it can't work in the asp.net

|||it occurs the same error.|||

Hi,

You might try checking your SQL Server - make sure you select 'Mixed' security which allows SQL Server login & password to substitute for a trusted connection.

Good luck!

|||

I change the security for 'mixed' security ,but it

occurs error: trusted connection failed.and mayby

sql server's error,because when i use Query Decomposition to land with sa and no password

,bbut it failed .what is wrong?could anyone help?

|||what's wrong ?could anyone help?|||

This problem may be due to the way you have defined your Shared Datasource. Have you stored the login Credentials or used the prompt for login option?

If you used the latter you might want to change to the store credentials option. Hope this helps

|||That's all right.Aftar I select 'Mixed' security ,I didn't restart the computer.

Error: Unable to connect to the remote server.

I have been running RS for a month and it was working fine. However, now it is giving me the following error:

The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

Any ideas? Thanks

Is this both remotely and from the local server? And of course some of the basice questions:

Have you installed any new software?

Have you made any changes to your IIS?

Have there been any firewall changes?

Is this from all machines?

|||

Yes, this is both remotely and from the server. SQL is intalled on the remote server. The error is from all machines. The only new software installed on the IIS (where RS is intalled) is Cold Fusion. This might be the cause, but I don't understand how? No firewall changes have been made.

Thanks

|||

I don't know if this is an option, but have you tried to reinstall report services? or removing Cold Fusion. Also you may want to call the makers of Cold Fusion and see if they have heard anything like this.

To be honest I am taking stabs in the dark on this one, sorry.

Error: Unable to connect to the remote server

I'm getting an error message:
The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote
server.
Any suggestions why this error is occurring?
Thanks.
danIt looks like your server connection string got corrupted.
Use the RSConfig utitlity to reset it and that should take of it.
